Sonicrealms Racing driver Jason Lovett made his debut in the Pro series 2011 season 4 and made a very good account of himself. He finished 16th in a strong field and also was the most watched racer on PSRTV with a very exciting battle with Pablo Lopez. Well done Jason!

Report:

Qualifying was an interesting new format, being able to just do 2 flying laps. My main aim was to get a banker lap of 1:46.xxx in at on the first lap, which I managed with a 1:46.398. My final attempt I was aiming for a  ~1:45.xxx, but was only about to get a 1:46.023 which put me 16th on the grid, which was higher than I was expecting.

Race start, was just hoping to stay out of trouble on the first lap, so approached with more caution that usual. I bogged down at the start a little bit, and stayed to the outside at T1 hoping to avoid anyone making contact on the inside, which worked out. Unfortunately when coming into les combes 2nd and 3rd place made slight contact causing me to have to leave the track and come to a stop, until I was able to find a gap to get through the carnage. I thought I had some front wing damage but wanted to do a few laps to access how bad it was, but I was about 5s of the pace, so I pitted on lap 3 and decided to take fuel and go long rather than make it a 3 stop race.

Came out of the pits heavy on fuel in about 20th place, just trying to feel how the car reacted with lots of fuel on-board, made one mistake in Blanchimont with cold tyres and ended up doing a 3600 spin, and losing a couple of places.

With the race only being about 6 laps in, and not expecting many people to need to pit until about lap 16, i tried to not make any mistakes any see how I slotted in after the first round of pit stops. By lap 20 all the stops had cycled through and I was in 15th place.

I managed to hold onto 15th place from Pablo Lopez, as he was on much newer tyres he was faster in the low speed corners but i had great fun battle for a long time, until lap 29 when i pitted.

As the next few laps passed it was clear he had a few more laps worth of fuel on-board, as was able to go fast for a few laps while I was heavy on fuel, which once he pitted he made about a 8s gap. For the remaining 10 laps I just made sure I finished and held my position.

Nice run Jason!

Did you disable the three screen rendering for the screenshots or do you run like that?
