About Us - Sonicrealms Racing
Sonicrealms Racing is a racing team which promotes the ideals of clean, fair racing in a thriving on-line racing community and are actively involved in major competitions within Live For Speed.
Its founder members, KayJay and Mark have been racing for many years in various games, such as the Grand Prix series from Geoff Crammond. GP4, released in 2002, required a local network to race against other human drivers, but was one of the most realistic simulators at that time. That is until late 2002, when the first demo of Live For Speed was released. Mark was first to discover this gem and quickly convinced KayJay (not that he needed much convincing) to also get involved. Mark and KayJay spent many hours racing around the Blackwood circuit in their little GTi's.
Mid 2003 saw the release of LFS S1 (Stage 1) which included new cars and tracks. Both Mark and KayJay quickly settled on the RB4, a four wheel drive car very similar to a Toyota Celica. Tongey also joined the team, although not yet officially called SR. Christmas 2003 saw a minor patch to LFS S1 which included the MRT5, the first open wheel racing car. This completely changed the game and added new life. The MRT quickly became the car of choice for the team.
June 2005 saw the release of LFS S2 (Alpha). Again new tracks and cars were added, yet the physics needed work, as some cars were difficult to drive... but we weren't grumbling! The FOX (Formula XR) became the main car to drive for the team due to it's handling, which made for great, close racing. The team also became involved in various leagues, such as the Original LFS League, in which Mark competed very well.
KayJay has also dabbled in the GTR series of cars, racing a season in the LFS Endurance League. This featured 2 hour races at many of the popular circuits in LFS. After a very tough season KayJay finished 20th overall with 295 points out of 59 racers. The champion had 395 points.
Tongey has taken part in 2 seasons of the OWRL (Open Wheel Racing League) which uses single-seater race cars - the Formula XR (based on a Formula Renault car) and the Formula V8 (based on a Formula 3000 car), as well as the OWRL MRT Mini Season and 1 season of OLFSL. He lead the team to Constructors Championship in SimFIA F1. He's taken part in 2 seasons of the FM cup, coming 2nd overall in season 2 and was the UF1 Owners Club 2007 Div 2 Champion.
In 2007, Sonicrealms Racing entered the BOTT (Battle Of The Teams) competition, organised by Fusion Racing, and placed 14th overall, earning the Most Improved Team award.
Some of SR's less experienced members also took part in the IGTC league, also in 2007. Although SR only entered midway into the season and therefore had no real hope of competing for the league, valuable experience was gained by a number of the team, for whom this was their first real event.
Many SR members also take part in real racing, from karting to rally events and even Formula BMW and Formula Three.
One SR member is a potential future racing star - Kristján Einar. Kristján is a leading kart racer with a lot of miles under him in Formula BMW and is a recent signing to Formula Three for the respected Carlin Motorsport. He recently competed in New Zealand in the Toyota Racing Series, the first Icelander to do so.
In late December 2007/early January 2008, Sonicrealms Racing started an 'academy' team for potential future SR team members, the Sonicrealms Racing Development Team, which aims to develop racer's skills through a variety of challenges, special events and even individual training sessions on a private server.
The Sonicrealms Racing Team now has 40 members in total. These are Mark, KayJay, Tongey, Turkey, Paul, MJK21, Aragorth, Weed, Macker, Slawter, Gil, the doctor, Ossie, Demet, Kristján, Jónas, Monty, Agent K, Andy, Faraday, Velo, Gerdoner, J. Lovett, Junkan, Joker, CSF, Trebor, Travy, I. Abbas, Badseed, MistaTea, Blake, Unipro, Element, Gjerde, Pete, Gav, blb, Gasser and Storm_Cloud.
