About Live For Speed
Live For Speed is a serious racing simulator. No arcade modes, no steering aids - YOU have to do the driving. It is therefore highly recommended to play the sim with a wheel, because even though you can use keyboard and/or mouse, a wheel is what you use in a real car, so a wheel should be used in a serious racing simulator. Especially when online, where fast reactions are required.
In Live For Speed you can race alone or against the AI, but the real fun is to be found online, in multiplayer mode. Racing against real people is simply the best thing and LFS makes it easy for you to do so. There are also several online racing leagues you can take part in, if you are looking for something with a more competitive edge.
What makes LFS stand out from other driving simulators is the sheer depth. Drivers have to plan their pitstops in advance, making sure they set enough fuel to get through the race. Also, the car setup system is very comprehensive, allowing drivers to make changes to the car depending on which circuit they are driving. Everything can be changed from tyres & suspension settings to gear ratio & downforce settings. Choosing the right setup is vital to acheiving quick lap times.
At the last count Live for Speed contains 24 different circuits spanning 7 unique locations. If you also count the reverse circuits, you can race on approximately 45 different circuits!!! There are 18 different cars to choose from and, due to the realistic physics, each car handles very differently. Thats a lot of variety, believe me. I have been racing for roughly 2 years now and there are many circuits that I have not even seen, and cars that I have not driven yet!
